I think there's rubbish on all sides. The eco lobby are no more objective than the antis. Britain, and in particular, Scotland where I live, has the greatest wind resource in Europe, but there are compelling arguments on both sides. There are proposals for a massive wind farm on Lewis, which in itself is contentious, but one of the side effects of this is the need to upgrade the interconnector from Beauly to Denny which runs through some very scenic countryside. The proposal is for larger but fewer pylons, which has generated an anti-pylon lobby.
Maybe we need an independent review of windpower to establish the economics, the public subsidies (including hidden subsidies), the effect on communities, landscape and tourism and how this compares with alternatives such as nuclear which the government seems to moving towards.
